# Give managers visibility without giving full admin access

> Configure Lynka so managers can review team work and reporting while sensitive product areas and administrative actions remain separately controlled.

A manager usually needs broader visibility than an individual contributor, but that does not mean the manager needs every administrative permission in the workspace.

Lynka separates team or wider record scope from product access and action permissions so you can widen review without automatically widening control.

## Example: sales manager

A sales manager may need to:

* see Deals owned by the Sales team
* review pipeline by stage
* inspect Deals needing attention
* reassign a Lead or Deal when necessary
* review activity and close reasons
* see team-level Sales reports

The same manager may not need to:

* post accounting journals
* close accounting periods
* manage tax settings
* change workspace billing
* manage every team in the company

## Start with the team

Make sure the manager and the people they supervise are in the correct team structure. Team membership provides the grouping Lynka can use for team-level scope where supported.

## Add the scope the manager needs

Give team-level visibility where the product area supports it. Avoid granting workspace-wide `view_all` style access unless the manager genuinely needs all records across the company.

## Keep sensitive actions separate

A manager can be allowed to review a record without being allowed to perform every lifecycle action on it.

For example, viewing an Invoice is different from posting it. Viewing a Journal is different from reversing it. Viewing team records is different from managing team configuration.

## Reports follow data access

When report results use the current user's scope, two managers can see different totals if they manage different teams. That is expected behavior, not necessarily a reporting bug.

Before comparing numbers, compare scope.

## Owner versus manager

The owner may need cross-functional visibility across Sales, finance, inventory, support, and workspace health. A manager should normally receive the cross-record visibility needed for their responsibility, not a copy of Owner access.

That keeps a small-team permission model understandable as the company grows.
