# Leads: work prospects before they become deals

> Capture prospects, work the relationship and qualify a lead into a deal.

A lead represents someone you may sell to. It is where you keep the early relationship, owner, contact work and qualification state before the opportunity becomes a deal.

The built in fallback lead statuses are `new`, `contacted`, `qualified`, `lost` and `disqualified`. Your workspace can expose configured labels and colors instead, so use the status names shown in your app.

## Create and work a lead

Create a lead from Sales, then add the information your team needs to act on it. Depending on the record and permissions, lead detail can expose assignment, notes, activities, email, chat and related context.

A good lead record should answer two practical questions: who owns the next action, and what should happen next?

## Qualify a lead

Qualification is confirmation based. The qualification checklist is not a hidden editor for owner, budget, contact or timeline. The flow requires the required confirmations and a nonempty next action. When the database lifecycle check passes, Lynka creates the related deal and shows a confirmation that lets you continue to the deal or stay where you are.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the lead">Review the person or company context, owner and recent activity.</Step>
  <Step title="Confirm qualification">Complete the required qualification confirmations and enter the next action.</Step>
  <Step title="Create the deal">Finish qualification. Lynka creates the deal only after the lifecycle contract succeeds.</Step>
  <Step title="Continue in Deals">Manage stage, value, expected close and final outcome on the deal.</Step>
</Steps>

## Lost and disqualified leads

Lost and disqualified are terminal lead states. If a lead already has an open deal, Lynka can apply guardrails before allowing a lead loss action because the lead and commercial opportunity should not contradict each other.

## Lead score and review queues

The lead list can show a score or probability value and supports minimum and maximum score filters. Treat that score as prioritization context, not as a replacement for the qualification decision.

Sales also includes review queues for duplicate leads and qualification review. Duplicate review is audit only in the current UI: reviewers can record decisions such as reviewed or not duplicate without silently changing the underlying lead records.

## Permissions

Common lead permissions include create, edit, delete, assign, team view and all records view. Import access is separate from normal create access.
